The Social Reckoning

Here is another film about Facebook, “The Social Reckoning”. It is an unofficial sequel to “The Social Network”. This one shows how Facebook allows almost anything to be put on its network if it will make them money. It’s like “Network” without the satire. This time Jeremy Strong plays Mark Zuckerberg and is even less appealing as a person than when Jesse Eisenberg played him in 2010. The movie, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, is interesting. The Facebook executives are not sympathetic and I am sure the company is not happy with this expose. Mikey Madison plays a whistle blowing employee and Jeremy Allen White is a Wall Street Journal reporter. Bill Burr essentially plays Bill Burr as a consultant to Zuckerberg who tells it like it is. Wunmi Mosaku, who was so good in “Sinners”, plays another consultant who is guiding the leader of Facebook. She is once again a standout. An interesting, if somewhat disturbing drama. Interesting.
